Where to Go Antiquing in Sarasota Part 1
Lots of places that carry antiques in Sarasota, so I'm breaking it down into several posts.
The Exchange- Huge consignment shop full of China, art, furniture, clothing, and more. Not thrift prices, but nothing is insane. I've found antique RM, bamboo dressers, oil paintings, you name it. Not Euro heavy antiques, erring vintage; think treasures that locals in SRQ consign as they get older. I go at least once a week.
Antiques + Chotchkes- kindest staff & a smaller but beautifully curated collection from estate jewelry to art, China and more. No dust, no dirt, an upscale experience.
Braden River- For the serious collectors and enthusiasts, you'll find one of a kind pieces. Some of the most unique and beautiful antique items in SRQ. Think lots of MCM furniture, fine art, and other vintage + antique decor. This store is absolutely packed, don't bring a large purse in.
Sarasota Antique Buyers- you may have to dig a little but it's worth it. They also run auctions. Oil paintings, antique Asian china, vintage nautical decor, sculptures, you name it. This is a place to find real antiques, and ones that may need a little TLC (worth it). You won't see prices on most things, so ask. This is my favorite spot for my personal aesthetic.
PEL Consignments- They run off site estate sales in a giant warehouse. You can see the previews online but there's always more than pictured. Lots of furniture, less smalls. It's hit or miss for me (like any estate sale) but runs on consignment pricing structure đź‘Ź. Great place for frames. Next to the store mentioned above.
Venice Mercato- technically not SRQ but there's one booth in particular I'll drive for to see what China she has in. Lots of antique pottery, china, and other decor. This is a small antique mall with a mix of nautical, English, French and coastal inspired small decor. Lots of Limoges boxes, and true family antique artifacts. Mostly smalls, less furniture. It can be very hot so dress appropriately. Only open Th-Sat.
